I stopped watching Defiance in the middle of the first season and am so far from being up to speed on the program and the wiki that I would be wrong for me to step on Deathdealers747's toes. If he's bailed, I have like your workup.
Meh, as usual, Wikia's Main Bot redirect is screwy, again. It seems as if it jumps around between the "most active" Admin that it'll post on behalf of when a new user makes an edit. I'm not allowed to touch this in any way, because it is controlled by Wikia's main servers. The worst part is that it dictates the "most active" Admin down to the very hour of login, or at least it seems to. So, apologies if Wikia's stupid bot is sending new users the usual introduction message on your behalf. I wish there was something that I could do, without demoting your status as Admin. I'd like to keep you as Admin, as you well know, purely as a Backup Admin.
People amaze me at what they consider "active" or "inactive."
I have 5 other wikis that I'm Admin of, I'm busy packing and preparing for my next move in 3-4 weeks, my glasses are broke, and I've been spending hours on-end writing up Beginner Guides for a game on Kongregate called: Sword & Potions 2, made by EdgeBee Studios. I've also been learning about how to program/write the code for Adobe Flash Player (Unity after that) games. Along with that, I had to do the research on the proper Copyright Registration Laws of the US and internationally.
I'm a busy person, a response within 4 days is not unusual nor considered inactive.
As for the wikia rules, this wikia doesn't really have any rules, more like guidelines and preferences. Those can be found on the "Community" tab on the navigation bar, located at the top of every single page on this wikia. You can always check the "Community Status Updates" to see who the current admin is and what is going on with this wikia. You can also view the "Forum" or "Help" section of the navigation bar, if you ever needed any questions answered.
I've spent months working on this wikia, and there's still 12+ hours of work left to be done prior to Season 2. I've also laid down a bare-boned categorization for Season 2, despite the fact that Syfy refuses to release the official and/or unofficial names of each Season 2 episode.
Hey, do you by any chance have any idea how to edit the seemingly untouchable parts of a wikia? I can't seem to edit the "Wiki Activity" page or the part of the navigation page that display's MediaWiki's bar. I already checked MediaWiki's Website, Special:AllPages, Wikia's Main site, Wikianswers (I'll post the question if ya don't know), etc.
Hey, I don't know how busy you are, but imma ask you a small favor of occasionally checking in to this wiki during these months, due to the fact that I will be moving. I'm only asking you to watch for improper edits, such as, placing of a link to an external image (and doing so improperly), editing of the infobox indicator on a page from "health" to "status" without any clue that it will render that information false, etc. I'm really just asking you to watch over it a tad for the minor edits.
If you read my Status Updates and Forum posts on here, you'll see that I tried to recruit Admins/Chat Mods since January, but I have recieved zero response or interest in it. Uptime will be in June, which is the very month of my moving from here to Georgia (hehe). Uptime can achieve as much as 300 unique page visits per day, with a potential of 300 unique user edits per day. If I left it completely empty, it would be crippled.
You don't need to add new info., new pages, or nothing of the major sorts; just watch the pages that already exists. Due to Defiance/Syfy/Trion not releasing any information about Season 2 titles, I cannot add an appropriate Season 2 layout, but I may create a rudimentary version of it.
Man, yesterday i did 5 hours straight of work on the Cast, Crew, and some Characters. Today, I did 2 hours straight of work on the Cast, Crew, and Characters. Tomorrow, after the situation with the stocks clears up, I intend to do more work.
Could you believe that select people with Official Sites, such as, Perry Mucci, actually linked other wiki sites for their profile, simply because we didn't have a page for them? Man, I really hope that all of this adding of information for the Cast, Crew, and Characters brings people back to this wiki.
I even changed the Background and Home Page to allow for a more tranquil environment while browsing the wiki. I also added new forum sections, one for Feedback and one for Admin requests.
I'm hoping that all of the changes help bring people back, and prepare the wiki for the traffic of Season 2 (June 2014) release.
So far, the only users that have edited in a while have either had to have their edits re-edited by me or completely reverted by me. Pretty much a dead zone here.
The funny part is, a few weeks ago I bought the Defiance MMO for 10 bucks, downloaded it (10.2GB), installed it, and never played it - lol! I only bought it to add information to the wiki, but haven't done so.
I know there's a lot of information that I could add to this wiki with a little bit of research or memory recall, but I can't quite find the motivation to do so - have you ever lost motivation to do work on a project? If so, I'm curious how to gain it back. Because I still want to take care of this wiki, but I can't seem to bring myself to do much of anything, besides the usual - which is play Guild Wars 2, fill out applications, watch Movies/TV Shows, etc.
Anyways, how is everything for you? All of the wiki's going good, edits being made, etc.?
I was just wondering because I been learning my way around the wikia as an Admin and been viewing Special pages and Media-wiki pages and whatnot, and I found out that there are currently a total of 4 Admins on this Wikia. 1) Me, 2) You, 3) Porterfield, and 4) the Creator. Now, obviously the creator is gone elsewhere and most likely won't be coming back anytime soon. But, Porterfield I do not personally know and he only made 77 edits on the wiki; yet, he has sysop priviledges and was previously bureacrat (or still is, can't tell because it claims that he's still in that group section, as are you).
I am asking you this, because I want to know if you're OK with me removing his sysop priviledges, just in case he decides to come back on one day and wreak havoc and/or take control over what has come to be "my" wikia. Obviously, I can't remove the Creator from sysop priviledges, but that shouldn't be a problem - hopefully.
Like, you see the image in the back of every page that's supposed to show Defiance, but all you see is a broken bridge on the left and parts of Defiance on the right. I want to change that, but can't quite figure out how to.
Well, thanks. I changed it. For now, it'll have to do, I'll keep messing with the image and trying to make it better, but it's hard to maintain quality and maintain underneath 150kB for a freakin background image. I don't understand why the cap isn't 500kB for the background image limit.
Yeah, I can't do anything with that alignment, unfortunately. I had to split the image into 3 images, then I reconnected all of them back together using Paint. I also had to make the right-image (Amanda) to be more horizontally to the right; thus, the image was disconnected on the far-right corner. Maybe, I'll try again in a few days time, we'll see.
So, I made a new template recently, but I've run into a small snag. For the locations, I need to have multiple locations and in order to show them properly I was wanting to use the asterisk to show a bullet spacing. But, the first entry refuses to accept any changes whatsoever. Could you show me how or link me to the page that can show me this? I don't really know what to look for when learning this on the wikia.com main page.
In theory (he said), putting the first location on its own line should have worked but it didn't. I gave you a couple of options. You get the "real bullet" from the box that opens when you click on the "More" link at the top of the edit box. Hope it helps.
